How It Works
The Formula
BMI = weight(kg) ÷ height(m)²
Metric: kg & meters · Imperial: 703 × lbs ÷ inches²
Worked Example
70 kg · 1.75 m
- 1BMI = 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 70 ÷ 3.0625
- 2BMI = 22.86
Result: 22.9 — Healthy weight
Pro Tip
BMI doesn't distinguish muscle from fat — athletes should also check body fat %.
